Meet the Judges!

Brian Wickenheiser
Ontario
I am extremely excited and honoured to have been invited to be part of the judging team for the 2025 AAC Ontario Regional Championship!
I have now been involved in the world of dog sports since 2007 and first started to compete in agility in 2009. I have competed in AAC, UKI and CKC agility events and have attended multiple Regional and National Championships with the good fortunate to land a number of podium placements over the years.
In early 2018, I turned my attention to knitting and believe that my experience as a competitor and student of yarn have served me well as a judge. My goal as a judge is to design fun, fast, flowing courses that are challenging yet at the same time provide safe lines for the dogs.
I would like to thank “The Agility Connection” team, and in particularly co‑hosts Christine and Wendy, for once again stepping up and taking on the thankless job of host a championship event so that the agility competitors of Ontario can have this opportunity to play with their best friends! While this is a competition, I encourage you all to please focus on having fun with your dog and make it your number one priority this weekend, regardless of placement and results (which your dog really doesn’t care about), as that is what this sport is really about!

Hello, Ontario competitors, and welcome to my stomping grounds! Born and raised in the outskirts of Kingston, I’ve always stayed close to my hometown. This weekend, I’m thrilled to be one of your judges for the 2025 Ontario Regionals. My passion for agility began in 2000, inspired by my sister’s encouragement to take classes. Over 24 years, I have competed with five yellow Labradors, four of which earned ATChCs, with two achieving Lifetime titles. Currently, I compete with Siren, 12 years old and Screamin’ Banshee, 4 years old. I’ve also had the honor of standing on the podium at both Regional and National Championships. I started judging in 2008 and have cherished every moment traveling across our beautiful country, from coast to coast. Let’s represent Ontario at Nationals and make our province proud!
Best of luck to everyone!

First of all, I would like to thank the organisers of the 2025 all-Ontario Regional Agility Championship, Christine & Wendy, for choosing me to be part of the judging team for this year’s edition: I am extremely proud and honoured by their trust.
Also, I would like to thank ALL the volunteers who invest their precious time so that you can have fun with your canine companions; when you meet them around the rings or elsewhere around, thank them warmly! They deserve it so much! Because nothing is possible without them!
My little story… my journey in agility began in 2005: during our basic obedience class, we watched enthusiasts train in the other room, in order to do agility demos in shopping centers… I immediately knew that this activity was for us, me and my beautiful big Dover, a Tervuren X Collie; after a few lessons and various trainings, we started official trials in 2008; Bristol, a Tervuren, was my second agility partner: we started in 2015, and she is currently semi-retired; recently, I started competing with Flag!, a Border Collie who will soon turn 3 years old; my love of the sport also encouraged me to become a judge in 2017, and to participate in the organization of various agility events of all sizes.
Whether this is your first time participating at the regional championship, or you are a “regular”, I wish you the most fantastic agility weekend with your 4-legged partner! May your prowess in the ring be the reflection of all your training, and may all your goals come true! And above all, do not forget that the only goal of your dog is to please you and share these precious moments of fun with you! The ranking and the ribbons have no meaning for him!!!
Looking forward to seeing you, your dog and your good mood on May 31st and June 1st at the 2025 all-Ontario Regional Agility Championship, hosted by The Agility Connection!
